So you want to be an apprentice? You've come to the right place, padawan.
Dark Knits Boutique is currently seeking an aspiring creative, well spoken novice to learn the ways of the craft. Or many crafts, as we have several specialties.
Under Nikki's (and if you are really lucky, the elusive Irma's) tutelage you'll learn, via hands on experience, the art of millinery, pattern drafting and reading, advanced sewing and embroidery, clothing construction, corsetry construction, latex construction, prop creation, sculpting, painting and weathering, mold making, casting and more!
This is an unpaid apprenticeship so you may stay and learn as long as you like; all we ask is for a commitment to the craft by putting in the hard work and time needed to learn. Nikki has a plethora of things to teach and what you learn will vary based on what’s going on in the studio at the time. Hours will vary, expect to be occupied at least a couple of evenings in a week and potentially on weekends during the busy season.
This is not an apprenticeship for the fainthearted, for the world of couture clothing is dark and full of the terrors of long hours labored and much hands-on work.
Prospective apprentices must be local to the Edmonton area, or willing to travel to the Edmonton area a couple times a week.
Apprentices must have a strong desire to learn, not be afraid of hands on work of many varieties, must be well spoken and professional as you'll likely be attending fashion shows and expos whilst representing the brand.
If all this sounds good to you, please introduce yourself by filling out the below application. Please note that due to the epic volume of applications received, only successful applicants will be contacted.
